5 Signs That It’s Time To Change Your Mattress
Have you checked your mattress lately?
If not, now may be a good time to do so. A bad mattress can contribute to poor sleep quality, while a good mattress can improve it. Given that the average person spends about one third of her or his life sleeping, it’s worth investing the time (and money) to find the right mattress for you.
Here are 5 signs that you should replace your mattress:
1. Your mattress is over 8 years old
Most mattresses will need to be replaced after 7-8 years, but a good goal is every 6 years to be safe. Even if you think you’re sleeping fine, there’s a chance that you’ve just become slowly accustomed to a less-than-excellent sleeping experience.
2. You don’t feel rested when you wake
Most mattresses will need to be replaced after 7-10 years. Even if you think you’re sleeping fine, there’s a chance that you’ve just become slowly accustomed to a less-than-excellent sleeping experience.
3. You wake up with aches and pains and holding your back
Most mattresses will need to be replaced after 7-10 years. Even if you think you’re sleeping fine, there’s a chance that you’ve just become slowly accustomed to a less-than-excellent sleeping experience.
If you’re waking up to new pains in your neck, shoulders, and back, your mattress may not be supporting you correctly through the night. Its an obvious sign you need a new mattress.
4. There is a visible and noticeable sag
If you feel body pain, inspect your mattress for lumps and impressions. If the impressions are more than 1.5 inches deep, you may want to start looking for a replacement.
5. Other places feel more comfortable (aka. the couch)
If you find yourself heading over to the couch or into another bedroom to sleep rather than your bed, its time for a new mattress.
If any of these issues are affecting you
You need a new mattress.
